VSUN Energy is focussed on sales of vanadium redox flow batteries, (VRB), selling GILDEMEISTER’s brand of VRB which have been installed at over 130 locations worldwide. The VRB was invented at UNSW in the 1980s and has been commercialised around the world. They are stable, non-flammable energy storage devices which have a 20+ year lifespan and don’t suffer from performance degradation during that time. For mine sites the main benefits are the cost benefits from diesel replacement or reduction, an uninterrupted power supply – particularly useful for telecommunications and the removal of generator noise near camps. Mine site camps have a particularly good load pattern for solar plus storage as their occupants are generally away from the camp during the sunlight hours, when the battery can re-charge.
