Mike Houlahan is Horizon Power’s Chief Financial Officer. He leads the Finance and
Corporate Services division, with responsibility for finance, commercial, corporate program
office, procurement and the Pilbara network regulation portfolios. With 15 years of experience in the electricity industry in executive and senior leadership roles, Mike is leading the development and realisation of new business futures at Horizon Power. Under Mike’s leadership, teams are embracing new technologies and the increasing role of residential, commercial and industrial customers in a distributed energy resource environment. This includes not only solar and traditional energy storage, but electric
vehicles and their infrastructure, which complement centralised renewables and storage to
optimise and quicken the pace of decarbonisation.
Mike also leads Horizon Power’s Pilbara Network Regulation team and Horizon Power’s
involvement and contribution to the Pilbara roundtable. He is also leading the businesses
contribution to the proposed future changes to the Pilbara Network Access Code (PNAC)
and Pilbara Network Regulations (PNR) to encourage greater utilisation of the North West
Interconnected System (NWIS), increased common user transmission infrastructure,
industry growth and decarbonisation.
Mike is a director of Boundary Power, Horizon Power’s joint venture with Ampcontrol,
which is focused on the manufacture and sale of the next generation of standalone power
systems. He is also director of Horizon Power jointly owned West Australian Alternative
Energy, a market leading vertically integrated renewable energy company based in Western
Australia.
